I’ve been sitting under a tree trying to decide whether to keep these stats going or calling it quits. Well, I’ve decided to keep going for a while longer but sadly not here at Vancouver Peak.

Any regular visitor to the forum knows its appearance changed around January 24th. Well, that major update wreaked havoc behind the scenes (all text editing tools for posting are gone, for one thing) and I assume it was the last thing the administrator/site owner expected. I’ve sent three emails to admin over the last month with no response which is fine, I guess – hey, I haven’t had to pay the bills over the last three years and it isn’t me who has to solve the back-end issues to set things right.

So, I’m setting up a Blogger site for the stats. I actually started the process a year ago, but ran out of steam very quickly – fuzzy brain syndrome; however, the site’s almost ready now. I’m going to start with the December 2015 stats to finish off that year. I will follow that with a combined Jan/Feb 2016 post. I will let you know here when the first post is up – by Sunday, I hope.

In the meantime, if there is any data you want from here you best start grabbing it now. I will begin deleting older posts very soon and will likely remove what remains in a couple of months.

Cheers,
Skook

P.S. I don’t think private messaging works here any longer; and, I had to use HTML coding to align the text to the left...damn.
Skook, good to know you are still there. I have a BI update which will tear the mind of those who read it open. Stunning what's happened on the island since the beginning of the year, and probably not in a good way. More in response to your post on Sunday - Jimmy
Hey Jimmy!

Oi, I've been thinking about you mate big time given your move to Bowen in January.

I'm behind big time on my stats, as you can tell; however, now that this forum is "broken", I haven't any desire to post here. My new Blogger site should be ready in a few days. You can take a look at it and decide if we should carry on with Bowen there. Stay tuned...

Skook
Yay!

I too was wondering what was up - both w/the site and an apparently MIA Skook!
Looking forward to reading the new blog!

As an aside, RE is cray cray here in Gibsons. Joni & Gail just posted last weeks sales/listings data and, if I remember correctly, they calc 47 sales and 47 new listings in TOG last week. Even the Coast Reporter is in on the hot RE action interviewing Kenan M & Gary L (the Map Guy) quoting "they have never seen anything like this market" citing a strong market buoyed by "boomers downsizing ex the city, millennials out priced in the city, HAM, and even US buyers" or something along those lines.

As an example of what I am observing, I have not even fully decided to sell my Gibsons cottage (might be more fruitful to rent it) and already I have an interested buyer -- simply through word of mouth.

Yikes.

Same here on Bowen Jk...
Any sign of Skook's new site? for interest, we paid around $300/sq ft for our house on Bowen in early January. One has just changed hands four months later for $877/sq ft... Jimmy

Hey JimmyWW,

No sign of Skook. Odd.

I so enjoyed his work and always blown away by his analytics. And now we are in the midst of the biggest RE boom in Sunshine Coast history -- we totally need him to comment on what the heck is going on!

As an aside, listed my Lower Gibsons cottage 48 hours ago -- listed about 200K MORE than I thought it would list for which was a nice surprise!! Works out to about $333/sq ft (so no where close to the Bowen $$$ you reference -- that is a crazy rise in short time, Jimmy!). Having said that, I have to have an offer/closing deal to really celebrate. Should hit MLS early next week. A comparable sold in a few days for full price. Here is hoping.....

I picked up a new vintage "cottage" in Gibsons back in Oct 2015 -- and boy was that lucky timing. The market in Gibsons started heating up in Nov 2015 and has been red hot ever since. The new place is on a full acre 200 ft from the beach in the Bonnie Brook/Chaster Beach/Ocean Beach Esplanade area -- the sunsets are amazing! One of only 3 full acre lots nearby. And having more land is a dream come true (love me my privacy at home!).

In the meantime, where IS Skook!!???!!

Tried googling "Skook + Real Estate" and a few other variables to see if I could locate his new blog...no luck.

Skook, we miss you!!

Jimmy, take care!!
