Exclamation  Community Guidelines - Please Read Before Posting
Invitation to Post:

1: We invite you to post.
We welcome your research, comments and opinions regarding Lower Mainland real estate. We want our readers to see and understand different points of view. Try to contribute to the thread, rather than just stating if you agree or disagree. Explain the basis for your opinion.

2: This is a public forum.
When your comment goes online, everyone with Internet access can read it. Accordingly, please make your comment clear to ensure that no one misunderstands it. Other users may rate your comment. You can express a strong opinion but please do so keeping in mind that you are responsible for what you submit and have a factual basis for it.

3: Language and relevance.
Be polite; do not use swear words or crude language; we allow only English; write about the topic, not about the other contributors.

4: Report abuse.
We strongly support the online community by maintaining high standards of participation. If you consider that a comment does not comply with our Guidelines, please send a private message to the Admin or any of the moderators.

5: No libel or other abuse.
You must not make or encourage comments that are defamatory, false or misleading, insulting, threatening or abusive, obscene or of a sexual nature, offensive, racist, sexist, homophobic or discriminatory against any group.

6: Confidentiality and privacy.
Please respect other posters’ privacy. Do not submit confidential or private information.

7: No advertising or solicitation.
You must not use this forum for the promotion of your business, products or services or for any other commercial purpose, any sponsorship, petition, campaign, scheme or chain message.

8: No impersonation and proper disclosure.
You must not pretend to be someone else (e.g., an expert, another user or a member of our team). You must not pretend that you are unconnected to a story or topic, when in fact you are. If you have a personal connection to a story or topic, disclose your connection or, where appropriate, do not comment at all.

9: Acknowledge the sources of your information and do not infringe copyright.
You should properly acknowledge and attribute to the sources of your content, and in no case should you submit content that would be an infringement of copyright.

10: Respect the spirit and the letter of this invitation.
In deciding what is acceptable, please also respect the spirit and tone of our Guidelines and the community.

11: Removal of content.
Threads or comments that violate the letter or spirit of our Guidelines or our terms will be removed.

12: Suspension and termination.
We reserve the right to suspend or ban an account at our sole discretion. Here are some reasons why we might do so: breaching these Guidelines or our terms, serious failure to respect the spirit, principles, and tone of the community, repeated conduct or comments that are abusive. Bans are generally for extreme cases and repeated serious abuse, and they apply to the user, not just the username or account.

The brave new world of blogs is not so much different from the world of peer-reviewed journals that predated the internet and continues through the present. Thus, when our Guidelines advise that your peers will be looking at your postings, may comment on them and challenge you, you garner respect when you have facts at hand to show that a bit of intellectual rigor went into your comments.

Despite the modest presumptions of this blog, we request that you have a factual basis for your postings. You do not need to follow the Chicago Manual of Style to comply; you can simply explain who your source is, what they said, when they said it, why they said it, where and how. Ways of citing to sources predated the hyperlink by many years, but endure as the time-tested way of giving heft to your ideas.
