Welcome! Introduce yourself here.

RE: Welcome! Introduce yourself here.
Originally from Vancouver but spent a long time in Alberta and now back here – and renting for now. Probably won't have anything useful to say.

However, I've noticed that there are a lot more “open houses” here. Today for example, there are 101 open houses in Richmond, and just 80 in the greater Edmonton metropolitan region.

I'm guessing that real estate agents are scrambling more in the lower mainland.

From the Okanagan. Just data mining and watching the Drop roll across Canada...

I'm a real person! At least, I think so, therefore it must be so?

Anyway, I grew up in the Lower Mainland and moved elsewhere for school and work, but due to layoffs ended up landing back in Vancouver where my family support has been. Real estate here is nuts. The cost is one thing, but what it has done to our culture is even worse. All the discussions with friends and family revolve around real estate, largely because no one has any money to do anything because they spent all their cash on their poorly constructed townhouse.

My wife and I rent, despite having an income in the top 5% of families, because the costs are too dear, and the benefits far too sketchy. My wife wants a house of her own, so we will buy some day, but definitely not in Vancouver. We will be moving somewhere that has a housing market that is at least marginally aligned with incomes.

Will there be a bubble burst? Trends are funny things...they are trends and predictable, only up until the point that they are not. Always interesting to watch what unfolds.

Thanks for the forum!

Hi all, I was reading through the amazingly informative posts by Skook, which inspired me to sign up.

I'm one of those Baby Boomers who is looking to retire soon, but I'm a bit nervous about selling my home in New West and buying in the Sunshine Coast market.

I welcome anyone's input on this decision, publicly or privately, as I know I'm not the only one, but the data and insight available on this forum has already set me way ahead from what I knew before I stumbled across the forum.

Skook, kudos to you for your dedication to the forum and I wish you all the best, with respect to the situation you have described in your recent post.

I know there will be others I can learn from here, so I will carry on pouring through the pages.

Hello All,
My wife and I are Lower Mainland residents and have just returned from a weekend visit to the Sunshine Coast to see some former neighbors that had made the move to Sechelt recently. Like many others, we were amazed by the surroundings and decided to do some research on the residential offerings in the area.
My web searches had led me to this forum and specifically, the excellent research and commentaries by Skook. I have certainly benefitted from this forum during the brief time that I have been lurking about and hopefully can contribute in the future. In the mean time, I look forward to learning more about living in Sechelt from other members of this forum.
Best wishes,

hello! I am Honzi in Richmond.

While googling, found this good site. Very informative, and the threads are all useful and members are all very nice people.

I think I will have a good time here even just reading guys/gals posting.

Best Regards

Hi Everyone,

I am a newly registered member here.
Looking forward to interact with everyone on the forum in future posts and topics.

Honestly I was a somewhat surprised to see so few posts here, given how busy and active the real estate market has been in Vancouver in the recent years.

Is this the only online forum for the real estate community in Vancouver?
If so, can someone let me know any other active real estate forums that they use regularly?

Thanks in advance!
